Hobo Nickel Society

Yes, this is a picture of a nickel, one that has been carved by Ray Cover. The term "hobo nickel" can refer to any carving of small denomination coins but the nickel is favored by carvers for it's thickness and relative softness. This artform goes way back into the 1700s but you can see what today's hobbyists are doing at the Hobo Nickel Society's site. LINK
