The Art of the Can :: Red Bull

Red Bull has been sponsoring creative competitions for artwork made from Red Bull cans since 1997 and has exhibitions all over the world. Some of the submissions are truly amazing. Examples vary in scale from minute to grandiose. I'm guessing the extra caffeine helped these artists complete their works. LINK

Coca Cola Locusts :: Thomas Broomé

I've included pictures of the Coca Cola locusts here, but Thomas seems to drink other brand of soda also. You can see more flavors and brands at his site, and a few pictures of the locusts installed en masse. LINK

Canbots :: Sarkis Papazyan

There is something appealing about the simplicity of these can sculptures. Only a couple pictures on his site. LINK

Games :: Orisinal

Orisinal has a whole slew of Flash games by Ferry Halim that are beautifully illustrated, though more suited for a preschool audience. Worth checking out just for the style, but also a good place to visit if you have youngsters running around your house. LINK

Snow Globes :: Martin & Munoz

The snow globes created by Walter Martin and Paloma Munoz vary from inspirational, to dark and twisted. They also have other miniature scenics not placed in the snow globe format. Many are not quite suitable for children in their humor, but see for yourself. LINK

Type Flake :: First Born

Type Flake was created as a holiday greeting by the digital design agency, First Born. (I'm not sure if the name implies anything about how expensive their services are.)

Type in a few words, pick your typeface and background color, then email your own greeting off to whomever you like.

NOTE: Unfortunately, at last check, this site was no longer available.

SnowDays :: Popular Front

Created by the interactive company, Popular Front, as a Holiday Greeting back in 2002, Snow Days is still live and over 5 million snow flakes have been created.
Make your own or check out the creations of others. LINK

Illustration :: Scott Si

Scott Si does a lot of typographic treatments with swirls, many of which have been used in advertising. Though those are very impressive, my favorites are a series of wildlife posters. Check out his site and portfolio. LINK

Frozen Grand Central

"On a cold Saturday in New York City, the world’s largest train station came to a sudden halt. Over 200 Improv Everywhere Agents froze in place at the exact same second for five minutes in the Main Concourse of Grand Central Station..."

Still photos can't do it justice. Read more and watch the video. LINK

Design Police

Design Police: a site with downloadable forms that spoke to my need to kearn. LINK

Origami :: Eric Joisel

Eric Joisel is a Frenchman who lives and works outside of Paris. This guy is amazing. Not only does he do beautiful work, it also has a certain je ne sais quoi. He has some of the more typical animals though even these are unique but he goes so much further.

Check out his site that includes information about how it is done and a video and get a sense of scale. LINK
