Pattern Matters :: Lim Siang Ching

I'm digging the 3D paper sculptures created by Lim Siang Ching as part of the Pattern Matters project. And especially fitting tonight are the series of calendar posters. Check out all of the months and some other works over at the Pattern Matters site. LINK

Le Creative Sweatshop

Le Creative Sweatshop makes visuals of all sorts but I'm particularly fond of the majority of their work which is paper sculptures. It looks as if they primarily do display work but their website no longer shows images unless you roll over the text so it's hard to tell. (I do wonder whose bright idea is was to represent visual creations in text only but it's still worth checking out.) LINK

The Makerie Studio

The Makerie Studio creates some splendid sculptures, many utilizing primarily paper. Check out more of their work on their Behance site. LINK

The End of Gravity :: Jacob Hashimoto

Another mixed media series utilizing rice paper, I can imagine just staring at these pieces for hours on end and seeing something new in them every time. I particularly like the wall pieces with layers suspended on strings called The End of Gravity shown at the Mary Boone Gallery. See more at the artist's site. LINK

Rice Paper Sculptures :: Kirsten Hassenfeld

Featured here before for her hanging found-objects sculptures, this time I wanted to share her amazing mixed media pieces. Rice paper makes large-scale pieces luminescent and magical. At her website, check out the second half of the installations to see more photos. LINK

Paper Works :: Mia Liu

Artist Mia Liu has a few series of photos of her paper sculptures that are worth viewing available on her flickr page. LINK

Cardboard Sculptures :: Ferry Staverman

Ferry Staverman has created a whole slew of cardboard sculptures that vary in scale. Utilizing laser cutting, these 3D geometrics are kind of magical. LINK

Amos Lee - Flower

Any time I see a cut-paper animation, I'm astounding by how much work must have gone into creating it. This one seems to be a combination of some different mediums though primarily paper and a mix of stop action and digital animation, though lately, it's getting harder and harder to tell where the line is drawn between the two. Origami artist Sipho Mabona creates some forms that are new to me and also works with multiple pieces in varying colors to create larger formations. Visit his official site. LINK

Or visit his flickr set for an easy-to-view gallery. LINK

Paper Sculpture :: Ivar Theorin

Though Ivar Theorin's large paper sculptures are a bit rough in places, his methods are new to me, sewing brown craft paper into position. Check out more of his animals and masks including close ups at his site. LINK

Paper Sculpture :: Jeff Nishinaka

Jeff Nishinaka is an amazing paper sculptor. Capturing light and shadow to turn simple white paper into complex illustrations, his work is captivating. And the sheer number of pieces in his online portfolio are testament to his versatility and achievement. Name a subject and he appears to have done a sculpture for it! LINK

Modular Orbs :: Richard Sweeney

Though he does work in other mediums, the modular orbs Richard Sweeney creates from paper have to be my favorites. Working in a variety of scales and even creating some functional pieces, his work is worth a gander. LINK

I'm digging the origami by Goran Konjevod. See more of what he calls pleat tessellations at his site. LINK

His flip books having made previous appearances here on the blog, Matt Shlian is a master of the oxymoron in his paper sculptures, creating simple yet complex work at the same time. Combining cut and folded paper, many of his pieces are designed to move! Check out his site to see more pictures and videos. LINK
